Disrupt brings The London City Philharmonic who will perform Madama Butterfly Opera at St John’s Smith Square on 7th and 8th June 2024. This will be a semi-stage performance in a concert version with a full size symphony orchestra sung in the original language in Italian.

St John’s Smith Square

In the exceptional setting of St John’s Smith Square, live performance, acoustics, atmosphere, and architecture come together to create a rich and unforgettable experience. St John’s was designed and built by Thomas Archer and has survived fire, lightning, bomb plots and the Blitz. The Baroque beauty of the building is matched by an exceptional acoustic and from its restoration as both church and concert hall in the late 1960s, St John’s has presented some of the finest classical talent, programming choirs, chamber orchestras, and period instrument groups.

Puccini Opera Madama Butterfly

Madama Butterfly is one of opera’s most enduring tales of unrequited love. Puccini’s touching score follows the tragic tale of Cio Cio San, a young Japanese girl who falls in love with American naval officer Pinkerton, with devastating consequences.
